Today I was painting the walls in my newly converted office space – former spare bedroom. I had some extra paint from my last house that was never used and added some sample paints into it to make a new inspiring color for the office. As I was waiting for the paint to dry, I began to wonder what the color will look like once it is dry. Have you had that experience of anticipation and excitement to see what the end results of a project may be? Isn’t that part of the fun? Because even though I had a fairly good idea mixing a creamy white with blue an aqua would result in a light greenish blue color, you just never know how it will look when it dries, in the sun, in the evening light…..I experience the same sensation when cooking or baking, add these ingredients and the result should be this or that. Add a glaze to a pot you are firing and it should look like the sample (those of us who have don ceramics know that is not always the case). But you know the part of creating that I really like is in letting the outcome come on it’s own, to be amazed and surprised.
